For Referring Providers

Information for therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, primary care clinicians, and other healthcare professionals considering a referral to InnerGrove Psychiatry.

Practice model

InnerGrove Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management, with psychotherapy integrated into psychiatric care when appropriate, primarily through secure video for older teens and adults who are physically located in California during appointments. Limited in-person visits in San Jose may be available by prior arrangement.

New-patient appointments are typically within 2 weeks, although availability can change.

Clinical scope

InnerGrove evaluates and treats the mood, anxiety, psychotic, and other concerns listed on the Care & Services page. Care may include medication management and psychotherapy integrated into psychiatric treatment.

Routine follow-up may include brief supportive psychotherapy, while longer visits can allow more focused psychotherapy when clinically appropriate and available. When regular structured psychotherapy is the primary treatment need, a separate therapist is generally recommended.

When another setting may be more appropriate

Another setting may better serve patients who need:

  • Formal evaluations or documentation for disability, leave, accommodations, fitness-for-duty, forensic/legal, court, or other institutional purposes
  • Long-term controlled-medication treatment, except that ADHD stimulant treatment may be considered when clinically appropriate
  • Psychotherapy-only care without medication evaluation or management
  • Emergency evaluation, crisis care, or a higher level of care

Insurance and payment

InnerGrove Psychiatry is in network with Cigna and Anthem Blue Cross. Coverage and patient responsibility depend on the exact plan and network. Self-pay is also accepted; current rates are listed on the Insurance & Fees page.

Review the Medicare page for the exact accepted and not-accepted arrangements.
