Getting started
How do I request a new-patient appointment?
Begin with the brief online questionnaire—7 questions, about 1 minute. If the practice may be a good fit, the form will ask for your contact and insurance information, and Dr. Yang will call within 2 business days.
Is the practice accepting new patients, and how soon are appointments available?
Yes. New-patient appointments are typically available within 2 weeks, although availability can change.
Does the practice evaluate and treat ADHD?
Yes. InnerGrove Psychiatry evaluates and treats ADHD in older teens and adults. The evaluation is individualized, and treatment recommendations depend on the full clinical picture. See the ADHD page for details about evaluation, treatment, and stimulant monitoring.
Do I need prior psychiatric records before my first visit?
No. Prior psychiatric records are helpful if available, but they are not required for the first visit. Please have your current medication list, insurance card, photo ID, and a private place for the video visit ready.
What about medications I am already taking?
Bring a current medication list, including doses, to your first visit. Dr. Yang will review your current medications as part of the evaluation and discuss appropriate next steps with you.
Visits and language
Are appointments online or in person?
Most appointments are provided by secure video for patients located in California. Limited in-person visits in San Jose may be available by prior arrangement.
Are visits and the website available in Mandarin Chinese?
Yes. Dr. Yang provides visits in English or Mandarin Chinese. Use the EN/ language menu in the header to switch between English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
How often are follow-up appointments?
Follow-up timing depends on your needs and where you are in treatment. Closer follow-up may be appropriate within 1–2 weeks when medications are being adjusted or symptoms need closer monitoring. During active treatment, many patients are seen about every four weeks, with appointments spaced farther apart when appropriate as symptoms become more stable.
Can I continue seeing my current therapist?
Yes. If your current therapy is helpful, you are generally encouraged to continue. Routine psychiatric follow-up at InnerGrove may include brief supportive psychotherapy, and longer visits may sometimes include more focused psychotherapy. Regular structured psychotherapy is usually best maintained with a separate therapist. With your permission, Dr. Yang can coordinate with your therapist when helpful.
Do you provide psychotherapy without medication treatment?
Psychotherapy at InnerGrove is generally provided as part of psychiatric care, alongside medication evaluation or management when appropriate. If you are primarily seeking ongoing psychotherapy without medication evaluation or management, a therapist who focuses on psychotherapy will usually be a better fit.
Insurance and payment
Does the practice accept Cigna or Anthem Blue Cross?
Yes. InnerGrove Psychiatry is in network with Cigna and Anthem Blue Cross. Your benefits and costs depend on your exact plan and network.
What are the self-pay rates?
As of September 2026, the 90-minute initial appointment is $600. Follow-up appointments are $250 for 30 minutes or $400 for 60 minutes.
Does the practice accept Medicare?
Yes. InnerGrove Psychiatry accepts certain Medicare arrangements. See the Medicare page for accepted arrangements and how to confirm your coverage.
Policies and safety
What is the cancellation policy?
Please cancel or reschedule at least two business days in advance. Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged at the full current self-pay rate.
What should I do in an emergency?
This practice does not provide emergency services. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a psychiatric emergency, call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
How are prescription refills handled between visits?
Medication refills are generally addressed during scheduled follow-up visits so treatment can be reviewed safely. If you may run out before your next appointment, please schedule the soonest available visit and send a secure portal message. When clinically appropriate, a short bridge supply may be provided until that appointment; if travel or a missed visit affects your supply, please contact the practice as early as possible.
